Registration fees
The primary registration fee for this year's nationals will be collected on a per-person basis, and will be $50 per competing gymnast. A Nationals 2006 t-shirt is included in the registration fee. This per-gymnast fee will be transferable, but not refundable. You may pre-register teammates to meet the registration deadline, and decide later who will be attending. The fee is the same regardless of the number of events competed. The individual registration fee is due March 1, 2006. Gymnasts meeting the early bird registration deadline of January 1, 2006, will receive a $10 discount on their individual registration fee. This early bird registration deadline will not be extended.
There will also be a $50 registration fee per competitive team. Men's and Women's teams count separately. Any school may submit multiple team entries, for either men's or women's teams. You must submit a team entry fee in order to compete for any team awards. In addition, if you do not submit a team fee, we reserve the right to split your team into different rotations within the same session in order to meet our scheduling needs. The team registration deadline is February 1, 2006.
The NAIGC dues are $8 per gymnast. The dues are in addition to any registration fees, and are due February 1, 2006. In the past, the NAIGC Dues have always been used for the exclusive purpose of subsidizing the cost of hosting nationals. In the future, the NAIGC might consider other uses for these dues, and our club will champion that effort if the funds are available.

Airfare
Here is a link to our Discounted Airfare sheet. It contains group codes for a select list of airline partners for the 2006 NAIGC Nationals.
Hotel
The host hotel for the 2006 NAIGC 2006 Nationals is the Oakland Marriott City Center. The room rate is $89 per night. This is a significant discount from the regular rate of $199 per night. Here are some other reasons to choose our host hotel.
1. The Oakland Marriott City Center (host hotel) is directly adjacent to the Oakland Convention Center (meet location), so you can walk directly, indoors, from your room to the meet.
2. You will probably not be able to find a cheaper hotel rate in this area at all, even if you are willing to a.) go to the ghetto and b.) rent a vehicle. (Parking rates at the convention center are $15 per day).
3. The hotel is serviced directly by major Bay Area public
transportation services, including BART, which provides
direct and convenient access to/from the airports (both OAK
and SFO), and other transportation hubs. Public
transportation is very good in the Bay Area. With it, you
can get just
about everywhere, in particular to all the major tourist
sites in San Francisco, including Ocean Beach.
To book rooms at our group rate, call the Marriott reservation center at 1-800-991-7249 between 6:00AM and 11:00PM Pacific Standard Time. Our group name is "NAIGC College Gym" and our group code is NAIA.
Your reservation should include the following information:
1. Arrival and departure dates
2. Estimated time of arrival
3. Room preference (single or double/double beds, smoking or
non-smoking)
4. Credit card information, including expiration date, for
reservation guarantee
Check-in time: 3:00PM, Check-out time: 12NOON
Banquet
The Nationals banquet will be held in one of the Marriott Ballrooms at 7:00pm Saturday, April 8. The cost is $20 per plate. More information will be provided as it becomes available.
Fundraising
Teams attending nationals should expect to do a lot of fundraising. Since almost every team will need to purchase airfare to make the trip, the cost will exceed that of previous years. $300-$400 is a fair estimate for the total expected cost per person, including airfare, hotel, registration fees, transportation, and food. Schools intending to fundraise that amount over the course of the next several months will need to plan accordingly.
Following are some suggestions for fundraising based on ideas we have used successfully in the past, or heard about elsewhere. If you would like to contribute to these ideas, send us an email.
Cleanups after Sporting Events: Our club did these for several years at UC Berkeley. The school paid us $400 to clean one large section of the stadium after each football game. We made over $2000 over the course of a season. Not the funnest job ever, but it took 10 people less that 2 hours, which is a great hourly rate. We also cleaned up after baseball games for a smaller fee, and a lot less work. You might see if your school hires student groups to do that kind of thing.
Setting up Equipment for Gymnastics Meets: Our club has been setting up equipment for our school's NCAA teams for the past several years. We have also set up equipment for other large meets hosted in the area by various j.o. clubs. While most of these meets are in the spring semester, and a little late for nationals fundraising, we expect to make around $2000 each year for all these equipment setups. See if any clubs in your area would be willing to hire your team to set up equipment for a regional meet.
Concession Stands: Our club worked concessions at several UC basketball games last year. While we did not make a lot of money from these, we did get some contacts and references for working concessions at professional sporting events in the area, which pays much better. We are pursuing that option this year.
Teaching gymnastics to children: Several NAIGC clubs have been successful running a program that involves teaching gymnastics classes for children. You can make a lot from this over the course of a year if you have the facilities and the organizational know-how to put it together.
Car Washes: These are fun team-builders, but not money-makers. Do one at the beginning of each year just for fun.
Credit Card Fundraisers: There are a lot of various fundraisers involving getting fellow students and friends to sign up for credit cards. While our club has not taken advantage of this option, it does provide many NAIGC clubs with their travel money each year. You can make several thousand dollars in a single weekend with enough dedicated people doing this type of fundraiser.
